There are many challenges facing the world at the moment and those who can generate change are the ones that can transform the future.
But generating change stems from innovation and collaboration – the beating heart of Plus X Innovation’s mission.
SamudraOceans, Cordon, KAIKAKU, E-Nano, Idaho Jones, and the Tyre Collective are the 11th Cohort of startups that have graduated from the CRL Accelerator, showing just what is possible with hardware innovation.
In May, we proudly celebrated our these game-changing startups, culminating in Demo Day 2024 – an evening of showcasing their products in front of a diverse audience of potential investors and other industry connections.
Our internationally recognised CRL Accelerator innovation programme provides world-class product development support and access to prototyping facilities for innovators building hardware products.
After spending the last 4.5 months with us, learning from industry-leading mentors and working closely with our expert product development team, these innovative businesses have successfully taken their products to the next level, driving transformation in their industries.
Hear from the exceptional cohort below and learn about what they do.
What are Cohort 11 doing to drive transformation in their industry area?
Hugo Richardson, Co-Founder of The Tyre Collective
Tyre wear is the second-largest microplastic pollutant in our oceans and a significant contributor to air pollution. Hugo Richardson and the Tyre Collective are actively fighting this with patent-pending technology using electrostatics and airflow to capture tyre wear and other non-exhaust emissions as they are produced right at the wheel.
During their time with the CRL Accelerator, Hugo said that the programme and its support helped “get us ready for mass manufacture and developing our MVP.”
Ece Filiz, Founder of Idaho Jones
Idaho Jones ensures that every mum feels valued, heard, and supported in their breastfeeding journey through meticulously crafted products, expert advice, support, and community dialogue.
The company’s Founder, Ece Filiz Vazquez Ruiz, has found the product development team on the accelerator to be an invaluable source of support over the last few months. “The [best part of the programme has been the] expertise and the teams involved in bringing a product from an idea to the market, as well as the product development and business development support we've had.”
David Sharp, CEO and Co-Founder of KAIKAKU
KAIKAKU is automating the ‘boring’ by developing robotics and AI to augment the hospitality sector’s workforce productivity and deliver consistent, healthy, and delicious food to consumers at scale.
The accelerator worked with them on developing Quick-Service restaurants scalable via SaaS. David and KAIKAKU are driving radical change by bringing the UK's first robotics-powered restaurant chain, Common Room, in Brunswick Center, London.
Erwann Lompech--Leneveu - 龙艾寰, Co-Founder and COO, and Alan Jurnet-Berteloot, Co-Founder and CTO of E-Nano Ltd
E-Nano is changing the game when it comes to sports playing surfaces. Through transformative AI and robotics development, automated analysis, and real-time data-driven recommendations, they reduce costs, resource use, and player injury while improving sustainability and performance.
Co-founder Erwann Lompech Leneveu's goal was to reduce assembly time, which they achieved through the programme. He told us it also provided the team with “support with designs and getting ready to manufacture at scale” and was “one of the most valuable accelerators we have been on.”
Annelise Brbora, COO, and Jamie Hutchinson, CEO of Cordon Technologies
Cordon Technologies is developing a precision innovative sprayer for agricultural pesticides, initially focusing on the vineyard market. By rethinking the basics of pesticide spraying, they are generating a transformative change in the industry. The tech mitigates pest problems, saves costs, and offers a more efficient, greener option.
When asked what the best part of participating in the CRL Accelerator was for Cordon Technologies, Annelise told us, “The product development and business development support that we've had.”
Joyeeta Das, CEO and Co-Founder and Alex Facey, CTO and Co-Founder of SamudraOceans
SamudraOceans is harnessing the power of robotics and AI to scale the production of seaweed farming. Thanks to its diverse uses and nutritional value, sustainable seaweed farming can provide an exciting solution to climate and nature emergencies.
The accelerator provided Joyeeta and SamudraOceans with wide-ranging business support and a galvanising environment. Joyeeta spoke of the experience, “It was great to be in a cohort of amazing people, mentors, design team and leadership.”
Driving transformation
After celebrating with the cohort on Demo Day, which saw the fruits of their efforts come together in an inspiring evening filled with potential connections, suppliers and collaborators, we’re excited to see what is next for this pioneering group of startups.
They prove that hardware innovation is crucial to driving real, transformative change across all industries. They’re taking us into the future, and at Plus X Innovation, we provide a launchpad to help them get there and turn those prototypes into a reality.
The next CRL Accelerator Cohort will start in September, and you can find out more about how to apply here.
If you’re on the edge of a breakthrough, we’re here to make it happen.
